The Southwest Conference on Language Teaching welcomes participants to Santa Fe, NM

Greetings from Paula Hirsch, SWCOLT President 2018

We hope that you are prepared to participate in all aspects of World Readiness Standards Take Flight.  SWCOLT has a great line-up of speakers that will inspire you; don’t miss the keynote speaker Juan Carlos Morales, 2007 SCOLT Regional Teacher of the Year.  Wonderful presenters will share their expertise on a variety of subjects so that you can join the flight to world readiness standards.  You will not want to miss one minute of the activities that SWCOLT has in store for its attendees!  Don’t miss the opportunity to network with teachers from other states or meet new colleagues!

When you have finished your day at the conference, we suggest that you benefit from Santa Fe’s cultural diversity by dining in restaurants representing a wide variety of Hispanic cuisines.  If you have not been to Café Pascual’s or the Famous Plaza Cafe, you are in for a real treat. In the downtown area, there are many art and history museums.  In fact, the Georgia O’Keefe Museum is in the downtown area, not far from the Eldorado Hotel, SWCOLT’s conference hotel.

Are you interested in shopping?  Walk one block from the hotel, and you will find a wide array of tiendas, selling everything from clothing to jewelry to art and more!  In fact around the main plaza, you will see vendors selling their wares on the sidewalks.

SWCOLT also wants to thank the New Mexico Organization of Language Educators, the state committee, that was instrumental in the planning of this conference.  Take advantage of all of the presentations and the wonderful cultural site in the historic city of Santa Fe.

Again, welcome to New Mexico; enjoy and learn.
Paula
